A Ghanaian community has been attacked by a group of armed robbers while they were at a Church of Pentecost service in South Africa.

In a video shared by a handle on X (formerly Twitter), @eddie_wrt, captured the congregation being attacked by the gunned men who stormed the auditorium during the ongoing service.

As the preacher was delivering his sermon, chaos instantly erupted, showing the armed robbers robbing the congregants at gunpoint.

The preacher, believed to be the leader of the assembly, was specifically targeted as the robbers seized phones and valuables from him, while also looting from the rest of the worshipers.

One of the robbers approached the pulpit, coercing the preacher to lead them to the location where money was kept.

According to the report, one elder of the church was kidnapped during the process.

 

Manhyia harassing, making Offinso Hemaa ‘powerless’ – Youth to Otumfuo

Concerned Youth of Offinso, a group that recently protested the continuous rejection of Dr. KK Sarpong’s nomination as Offinsohene by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, have accused Manhyia of over-exercising its powers on their leader.

The group, at a press conference in the area, said the rejection of the Offinso kingmakers’ choice of a new chief amounted to harassment of their queen mother, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, who superintends over the choice and that it also robs her of her power so to do.

“Offinso is highly disappointed in how the pending chieftaincy dispute is being resolved by HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“Offinso has taken notice that Asantehene is taking advantage of the respect that our queen mother has for him and therefore overexercising his powers on our queen mother to harass and make her powerless,” part of their statement read in part.

The youth stated that 18 contenders were penned down for the vacant stool and were whittled down to three and finally KK Sarpong was chosen as a successor to the late Offinsohene.

Trader gets GH₵200,000 bail over alleged illegal possession of firearms

A 26-year-old who allegedly had in his possession one locally manufactured pistol with three live cartridges without authority has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.

Prince Atakora aka “Kofi Atakora”, who allegedly had in his possession the said weapon, told the Police that he got them from his deceased father’s room at Mampong in the Ashanti Region and brought same to Accra to look for a buyer to enable him raise money to pay his wife’s hospital bills.

Atakora who was charged with possession of firearms without lawful authority, pleaded not guilty.

The Court presided over by Isaac Addo admitted Atakora to bail in the sum of GH₵200,000.00 with two sureties to be justified.

The matter has been adjourned to November 8, 2023.

Police Chief Inspector Josephine Lamptey, prosecuting narrated to the Court that the complainants were at the Police Officers stationed at Regional CTU, Accra while the accused person resided at Achimota Charcoal station, Accra.

The National Democratic Congress USA Chapter, (NDC USA) held its first Regional Conference and fundraising dinner last Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Holiday Inn 6600 N Manheim Road, Rosemont, Illinois. Lionel Messi wins eighth Ballon d’Or

Argentina and Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has won the Men’s Ballon d’Or for an eighth time.

The 36-year-old was recognised at the ceremony in Paris after helping his country win the World Cup in Qatar last year.

England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham won the Kopa Trophy for the world’s best player aged under 21.

Messi won his record-extending Ballon d’Or award ahead of Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.

France forward Kylian Mbappe – who became just the second man to score a World Cup final hat-trick in the 4-2 penalty shootout loss to Argentina – finished third.

Samuel Inkoom sets up football agency

Former Ghanaian footballer, Samuel Inkoom has launched the S-Inkoom Football Management Agency (SIFMA) in a bid to transform the fortunes of young Ghanaian players.

This initiative, inspired by Inkoom’ ‘s own experience of a one-year ban due to a contract dispute during his playing career, aims to redefine the landscape for emerging talents in Ghana.

SIFMA’s core mission includes talent discovery, player management, contract negotiations, and the holistic development of young prospects.

At the launch event held in Accra when, Inkoom stressed the vital importance of understanding contracts before signing them, drawing from his personal journey as an example.

He urged young Ghanaian footballers to seek legal advice and comprehend the implications of their contracts, a central message in SIFMA’s philosophy.
