A soldier, Staff Sergeant Nuamah Jonathan with service number 198-857, has been severely beaten, along with several others, while on their way from Assin Fosu to Assin Assaman in the Central Region.
The military officer, who’s also the Chief of Assin Assaman and Kyidomhene of Efutuakwa Traditional Area under the stool name Nana Obrempong Nkansah III, accompanied by his Queen mother Nana Brefuaa III, and others had attended a family meeting when thugs led by a self-proclaimed Chief, who is a police officer, intercepted their convoy.
Without any apparent reason, they proceeded to subject the occupants to a brutal assault.
According to an eyewitness, the police officer, identified as Alex Nsiah, whose thugs wielded small and large firearms and handcuffs, claimed that he could have killed everyone if it had been nighttime.
The victims are appealing to the Assin Fosu police commander, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the President, and the Regional House of Chiefs to urgently investigate the matter and ensure that justice is served.
They fear that without intervention, peace in Assin Fosu will be threatened. No arrest has been made though the incident has been reported to the police.
Report your landlords who have refused to pay utility bills – Rent Control
Emmanuel Kporsu, the Public Relations Officer for PRO for Rent Control Ghana, has advised tenants on how to handle landlords or landladies who refuse to pay light and water bills.
It has always been like an unwritten rule where some house owners in Ghana refuse to pay light, water, and other bills because they own the property and push their bills on the tenants.
This situation has become a growing trend in the country, and Emmanuel Kporsu has urged tenants facing these problems to report them to the Rent Control Department.
“If you are going through this situation and you haven’t been able to sort it out with your house owner, then you have to make a report at Rent Control, and we will invite the house owner to come and explain why he or she is doing that.”
“No house owner has the right to pay either the water bill or the electricity bill because the property belongs to him because the house does not generate the water or electricity but rather consumes it, so everyone who consumes has to pay.”
“Once you stay in the house, no law permits you (the house owner) to share your own bills for the tenants to pay. The law even states that the bill amount should be shown to the tenants for all of them to see the total amount that came,” he said.
It was my uncle who elevated Dormaa to paramountcy – Otumfuo replies Dormaahene
Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has spoken about how the Dormaa traditional area became a paramountcy, stating that it took a decision of a former occupant of the Golden Stool for that to happen.
Addressing his people at an Asanteman Council meeting at the Manhyia Palace on October 19, 2023, the Asantehene said there was the need to revisit history to combat efforts from some quarters to distort history.
Portions of his address posted by Opemsuo Radio on YouTube had the Asantehene speaking to how a former the predecessor of the current Dormaahene was inducted into office.
“Sampa is my town, Bono and Ahafo… Agyeman Badu (the first) took his oath here before going to assume his throne. He was a teacher here at Government Boys School. He swore in front of my uncle before assuming his position,” Otumfuo stated.
“It is because of these notorious ones that I am recounting this issue. What at all is it?” he emphasized before outlinging a historical sequence of relations and how the royal politics has evolved over time.
Agyeman Badu I, who he referred to is an uncle of the current Dormaa chief, Agyeman Badu II, who has in recent years fired salvos at the Otumfuo questioning his level of influence.
Dam spillage floods: People must be made to take responsibility for their actions – Rev. Opuni-Frimpong
Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, a former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, has called for accountability regarding the extent of devastation caused by the controlled water spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams, emphasizing that those responsible for the spillage must be held accountable.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) initiated the controlled water spillage on September 15, 2023, in response to a continuous rise in the inflow pattern and water level of the Akosombo reservoir.
This action led to the submersion of thousands of homes in various areas, including South Tongu, North Tongu, Central Tongu, and Asuogyaman.
Rev. Dr. Opuni Frimpong, in an interview with Citi News, stressed the need to identify the consultants responsible for conducting feasibility studies and assessment of the expected impacts of the spillage.
“We need to find out who were the consultants who did the feasibility studies and which impacts were they expecting for this spillage,” he stated.

What’s the issue with Partey? – Arsenal fans ask Arteta after benching Ghanaian in draw against Chelsea
Arsenal fans are furious with Mikel Arteta after dropping Thomas Partey in the club’s draw against Chelsea on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Some fans have questioned Arteta’s decision to play Jorginho ahead of Thomas Partey who they believe makes the team better.
Partey was an unused substitute in the London derby that ended a two-all draw with Arsenal coming from two goals down.
The Ghanaian has yet to start for Arsenal since returning from a month injury. The former Atletico Madrid has played 15 minutes since returning from his long injury.
Despite Partey not getting minutes, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard scored vital goals to ensure Arsenal came back from a two-goal down and maintained their unbeaten record. Cole Palmer and Mikhialo Mudyk were on the scoresheet for Chelsea.
I am disappointed in Akufo-Addo, I believed in him – D-Black
Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Lawrence Nana Asiamah alias Bullgod has described the investigation into the invasion of UTV videos by some members of the New Patriotic Party and the subsequent charges pressed against them as shoddy.

But the police did a shoddy job I am telling you because the police themselves they are miniature lawyers, they are custodians of the law,” he stated on the Saturday, October 21, 2023, edition of United Showbiz on UTV.
On October 7, sixteen individuals affiliated with the ruling NPP stormed the studios of UTV during a live broadcast of United Showbiz.
